目前，英國外交部建議如非必要，不要前往北韓 (advise against all but essential travels)。
Our policies concerning the security of travelling to the DPRK:
With regard to the recent tension on the Korean Peninsula which might worry participants, we hereby announce the policies that we follow to judge if a trip to the DPRK should be cancelled:
1. Travel alerts from the Hong Kong Security Bureau
On the Outbound Travel Alert page from the Hong Kong Security Bureau, there is a section called the “Other Information” where alerts on recent security threats to certain countries have been announced. So far there has not been any advice against travelling to the DPRK. Shall there is a strong warning to travelling to the DPRK, we will cancel trips.
2. Travel Alert of National Tourism Administration (NTA) of the People’s Republic of China
Shall there is a strong advice against travelling to the DPRK released by the NTA of China, we will cancel a trip to the DPRK. Until this moment, there has not been any reminder regarding travelling to the DPRK.
3. Outbound Travel Alert of Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of the People’s Republic of China
Shall there is a strong advice against travelling to/visiting the DPRK released by the MFA of China, we will cancel a trip to the DPRK. Until this moment, there has not been any safety alert released from the Ministry.
4. Foreign Travel Advice from the UK Government
The UK Government has a comprehensive page of assessment regarding travelling to the DPRK, including an analysis of the current political state of play and an account of recent diplomatic events. At the moment, the UK Government advises against all but essential travel to the DPRK. If the warning is further elevated to “advises against all travel”, we will exclude participants who are holding any kinds of British passports to join our trips to the DPRK, and arrange refunds. Whether we will eventually cancel the trip will depend on the travel advice listed out from point 1 to 3 above.
5. Other Passport Holders
Our trips to the DPRK did take participants of various nationalities to the country for tours or exchanges. If participants are not holding China, Hong Kong or UK passports, we advise you to pay attention to the travel advice released by respective foreign offices, as well as relevant insurance policies pertaining to travelling to the DPRK.
6. Emergency in the DPRK
Shall there is an emergency happens during a trip in the DPRK, however unlikely, our tour experts will stay in touch with the Chinese and British Embassies in Pyongyang and seek assistance if necessary. Calls will be made to Hong Kong Immigration Department and seek help for Hong Kong citizens. We will also contact our close partners in the DPRK to arrange flights or trains to leave the country as soon as possible.
7. Past Experiences and Our Assessment
Even since the establishment of Eastern Vision, our team has brought over 1,000 students and young professionals to the DPRK with absolute safety. We had been among political tensions before and understood well that there is always a big gap between what was portrayed in the news headlines and tourism reality. Our team, alongside with our close Korean contacts in Pyongyang, also witnessed that things have been business as usual in these days. We will keep in view of the situation and shall one of the above national institutions listed from 1-3 warns against travelling to the DPRK, we will stop organising DPRK programmes.
At the moment, we do not accept participants whose nationalities are considered sensitive by the DPRK government out of security concern, these include the United States and Japanese passport holders. South Korean (Republic of Korean) passport holders are also prohibited from entering the country. We hereby remind all participants to respect local laws and orders while travelling or doing a cultural exchange in the DPRK, and strictly follow the instructions from the Korean tour guides. We will provide sufficient reminders to all participants regarding the dos and don’t in the DPRK prior to departure.
